I know—-I said we would do better at blogging. We did for a while, but then we kind of slid off the blogging wagon. Mostly, because I have been out of town–ALOT. Another reason (excuse) is that I am still wrestling with the new WordPress format—-really.
Since we last blogged, I have been to Sea Island, Georgia; a wedding on the Outer Banks of Virginia, The Grand Hotel in Point Clear, Alabama; Birmingham; Orange Beach on the Florida Panhandle; and Roaring Gap, NC. I have never traveled so many places in such a short time, but I enjoyed every minute of it!
If you aren’t a fan of travelogs, you may just want to opt out of this one—except you might miss some really pretty pictures!
Here we are in Sea Island at The Cloister. What an incredibly beautiful place.
Of course, I had to take flower pictures. They were lovely and can be such an inspiration.

Great shopping, great food, great weather, great friends.
Next, the family went for a mini-vacay before attending a wedding. Here we are heading out to a beach wedding on the Outer Banks, and a photo of the lovely wedding itself.

Again, great fun with great friends.
Next up was a trip to The Grand Hotel in Point Clear, Alabama. Another lovely place to visit. I met 10 of my college friends there because we all aged up into a new decade this year. I’m telling you, 60 is the new 40—or maybe 50!
View of the bay from my window.
Our shared birthday cake—it was scrumptious.
The Grand Hotel is in Fairhope, Alabama, which is a lovely little town full of great shops and restaurants. We all ate and shopped and visited—-no more sunbathing by the pool like we would have done in college ????
These were the flowers in the Lobby—very cool.
One of the magnificent water oaks—-it was enormous.
A collection of vintage wine openers at one of the shops.
After a quick family visit to Birmingham, we headed to Orange Beach/Gulf Shores, Alabama, on the panhandle. I grew up going to the beaches down there, so it was a homecoming of sorts to me. Blue and green water with white, powdery sand—very different from the Outer Banks. Downside–not very tidal, so not much beach to walk on.
This is the sunset from our beach cocktail party.
We ate seafood every day. This place came highly recommended.
And it was!!!!
We also did a lot of cocktail sampling. This was brunch bloodies and mimosa’s.
Finally, this past weekend I went to Camp Cheerio in Roaring Gap, NC, for the 2nd annual Sistah Circle weekend. Eighty plus women get together—all friends and friends of friends—to visit, learn crafts, do camp activities, and have a general good time. I mean, karaoke in your PJ’s—what could be better?!
Everyone had to make and wear an autobiographical headdress. Some were very funny and clever—some of us were slackers.
This ends the travelog. I appreciate you indulging me as I went down memory lane. The end of this week starts the unofficial holiday season, so my travelling days are over for a while. AND, I think WordPress and I have made friends—at least we are speaking to each other ????
